What this site is

Hungary Unlocked exists because most Budapest travel content is written from a desk in another country, recycles the same ten spots, and quotes prices that were wrong two price lists ago. We live here. We ride the 4/6 tram, we know which bath queue is worth it and which one is a cattle run, and we would rather tell you to skip something than pad a list to ten.

How we work

• Prices carry dates. When a guide says a bath ticket costs 13,200 Ft, we checked the operator's own price list, and the article says when. If we could not re-verify a number, we say that too.
• Primary sources only. News items on our news page link the venue, operator, or authority behind the story, never a rewrite of a rewrite.
• AI where staying current depends on it. Prices and opening hours change constantly, and a site this size cannot be re-checked by hand. We use AI to help draft and to keep those details moving, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it does not do is decide what we recommend or invent a number. Every perishable detail traces back to the operator's own page, with the date we checked it.
• No sponsored placements. Nobody pays to be recommended. Some tour and ticket links are affiliate links, marked as such; they never decide what we recommend or where a venue ranks.
• Skips are named. A guide that only says nice things is an advertisement. Ours name what to skip and why.

Corrections

Prices move, venues close, we occasionally get something wrong. If you catch it, write to hello@hungaryunlocked.com and we will fix the page, not quietly, but with an updated date on it.
