From March 15th through 17th, 2024, the shores next to the camping area on the picturesque Szalki Island (Szalki-sziget) in Dunaújváros come alive with the bustling II. Dunaújvárosi Fish Festival and Family Days (II. Dunaújvárosi Halfesztivál és Családi napok). This eagerly anticipated event promises an immersion into the vibrant world of local and international fish dishes, offering an exceptional gastronomic journey for families and food enthusiasts alike.

Celebrating the Danube’s Aquatic Treasures
The festival shines a spotlight on the rich variety of fish from the Danube, prepared with distinctive flavors by participating restaurants. Special attention is given to the “Fish of the Year” contender, the perch, showcasing the myriad ways to enjoy this delightful catch.

Indulge in nearly 50 types of domestic and international fish dishes, served from giant cauldrons to the delightful accompaniment of a funfair designed to entertain the entire family. A highlight of the event is the Fish Soup Cooking Competition, inviting families, friends, and coworkers to showcase their culinary skills.

Beyond the traditional fish soup, fried fish, and fish sausages, the festival offers gourmet specials like fish burgers and fish-filled lángos, underlining the event’s dedication to elevating Hungarian fish cuisine.
