The Tiszator Pork Festival (Tiszator Böllérfesztivál), returning for its 16th edition, invites everyone to the scenic Füzes Camping area in Abádszalók. Scheduled for March 9, 2024, this festival is a vibrant mix of traditional pig slaughter, authentic rural flavors, folk music, dance, and a crafts fair, promising a day filled with Hungarian traditions and joy.
The Heart of the Festival: A Culinary Competition
At the core of the event is the butcher’s competition, surrounded by an array of entertaining and complementary activities. Guests can indulge in the unique, spice-infused delicacies of the region, including a taste of the record-setting 250-meter-long sausage prepared on-site, showcasing the culinary prowess of the local chefs.
Seeking the Tastiest Treats
This year’s festival continues the quest for the most delicious scone and the finest brandy, adding a competitive flair to the gourmet offerings. Continuous tasting is available at beautifully decorated gates, featuring spit-roast pork and other delicacies for gastronomic enthusiasts, with exciting children’s programs running all day for family visitors.
2024 Festival Schedule Highlights
- Early Morning to Late Afternoon (Kora reggeltől késő délutánig): From the opening at 6:00 AM to the prize announcements at 4:00 PM, the schedule is packed with tastings, performances by folk ensembles, an archery demonstration by world record holder Mónus József, and concerts that promise to make the day unforgettable.
- Daytime Activities (Nappali programok): A vibrant mix of music, dance, and culinary experiences awaits, with communal meals prepared at the gates, showcasing the area’s best handcrafted products and open museum exhibits for an immersive cultural experience.
For the Younger Guests: A Playful Paradise
The children’s area is a wonderland of pony rides, straw bale mazes, bounce houses, an animal farm made of bales, craft tents, face painting, and glitter tattoos, ensuring that the little ones have just as much fun as the adults.

- Admission (Belépő): The festival is ticketed, with tasting tickets available for a unique chance to sample the delicious pork dishes for 800 HUF. Tombola tickets are priced at 400 HUF, with drawings held twice during the day.
- Accessibility (Megközelíthetőség): The festival takes place at Füzes Camping, with the nearest bus stop located 600 meters away in the town center. Parking is available for those arriving by car.
