The Hungaroring is the Formula 1 circuit in Mogyoród, about 20 km northeast of central Budapest, and the next Hungarian Grand Prix runs Friday 30 July to Sunday 1 August 2027, with the race on Sunday. Tickets are on sale now at the circuit’s official partner, from €170 for a weekend of standing, and the easiest way out from the city is the H8 HÉV suburban train plus the fan bus.

The track sits in a bowl of low hills, so from most banks you see a long stretch of tarmac rather than one corner. It was built in eight months and held its first Grand Prix on 10 August 1986, the first Formula 1 race behind the Iron Curtain. Only Monza has been on the calendar longer without a break. The lap is 4,381 meters of slow, twisting corners with few straights, which makes overtaking hard and qualifying unusually important, so Saturday is worth your time too.

The 2027 race weekend, day by day

Friday is the practice day, Saturday the qualifying day and Sunday the race day, which is how the official ticket shop labels them. Support races run on the track across the weekend, and a race ticket covers all of them, plus the fan zone and the stage programs.

Two numbers tell you what the weekend feels like. The 2026 race was held in front of a full house, with more than 310,000 spectators over four days, and in 2025 the Hungarian Grand Prix won the Fan Experience of the Year award. Lando Norris won in both 2025 and 2026; Lewis Hamilton holds the record with eight Hungarian wins.

Session times for 2027 are not out yet. They appear on the F1 and Hungaroring sites in the weeks before the race.

Hungarian Grand Prix tickets: which grandstand and what it costs

Buy from gpticketshop.hu, the circuit’s official ticket partner. The visitor conditions say tickets must come from the authorized partner and may not be resold without the promoter’s consent, so a ticket from a reseller can get you turned away at the gate. Prices are in euros, and on 7 November 2026 these were still on sale:

Ticket Weekend (Fri to Sun) Sunday only
General Admission (standing) €170 (about $190) €155 (about $173)
Chicane 3 grandstand €310 (about $346) not sold separately
Apex 2 grandstand €340 (about $380) €305 (about $341)
Hungaroring main grandstand €650 (about $726) €585 (about $653)
F1 Fan Lounge (VIP) €1,950 not sold separately
Junior, ages 0 to 13 €35 to €60 €30 to €50

Sold out already: T1, Grid 1 and 2, Pit Exit 1, Grand Prix 1 and 2, Apex 1, Fan, Chicane 1, 2 and 4 and the Hungaroring Platinum seats, nine months before the race. The 2026 race also sold out, so if you want a seat, book now rather than in spring. Wheelchair and attendant tickets are sold for the Hungaroring and Pit Exit 1 grandstands.

How to choose:

  • General Admission is valid for the whole standing area, and in a bowl-shaped circuit that is a real option: you can move between viewpoints over the day. The catch is that there is no seat, and chairs are banned, so you stand or sit on the ground in late July heat.
  • A grandstand gives you a numbered seat, valid for that one seat. Seats bought in one order are placed side by side; for a second order, the shop asks you to note the first order number in the comment field.
  • Children aged 0 to 13 on race day need a Junior ticket, even babies on a lap, and a Junior ticket is sold only together with an adult ticket. The circuit recommends ear protection for children.
  • A weekend ticket is not personal. Different people can use it on different days.

Tickets are electronic and arrive by email about 10 days before the race. Print them or show them on your phone. Parking is not included.

Getting to the Hungaroring from Budapest

The race-weekend transport plan is announced shortly before the race: in 2026, BKK published it on 21 July. The 2027 version is not out yet, so here is how it worked in 2026, the setup the circuit has used in recent years.

On race weekend: H8 HÉV and the fan bus

  1. Take metro M2 to its end at Örs vezér tere and change to the H8 HÉV suburban train.
  2. Ride to Kerepes. On the 2026 race weekend the H8 ran 732 trains, more than 30 percent above its normal timetable.
  3. At Kerepes, board the free fan bus to Gate 3. Your race ticket is your bus ticket; it covers the fan buses only, not the HÉV.

The HÉV stations at Szilasliget and Mogyoród are also within walking distance of the circuit, which is the fallback if the bus queue at Kerepes is long.

Going back in the evening: via Gödöllő

In 2026 the evening fan buses ran from Gate 3 to Gödöllő railway station. From there, trains to Keleti leave four times an hour, at :06, :16, :36 and :46. The InterRégió trains take 29 minutes and the S80 stopping trains 39 minutes.

The ticket for the trip

The race ticket does not cover the HÉV, trains or Budapest transport. In 2026, BKK and MÁV sold an F1 Hungaroring combined day ticket for 3,749 HUF (about $11.50), valid for 24 hours on BKK services and on regional trains, HÉV and buses within Budapest and Pest County, second class only. It did not cover the 100E airport bus. Whether it returns in 2027 is announced with the race-weekend plan.

By car, and parking

From Budapest, take the M3 motorway to exit 20 and follow the signs through Mogyoród. The M3 is a toll motorway, so buy an e-vignette before you drive on it. During the Grand Prix a special traffic order applies around the circuit.

Parking is not in the race ticket. The circuit sells Premium parking inside the grounds separately (on sale later for 2027), runs two free car parks off site, which fill up, and private lots appear around the circuit. From any off-site parking, allow a 10 to 30 minute walk to the gate.

Outside race weekend

The H8 HÉV runs to Mogyoród all year. The 321 express bus runs on the M3 between Budapest and Mogyoród and stops at the Hungaroring. Check times in the BudapestGO or MÁV app before you set out.

What to bring, and what stays at home

The circuit’s own line about its race is that the track is dusty and the race is hot, and the rules are written for that.

  • Allowed: 1 liter of drink per person (one bottle, can or flask) and up to 3 sandwiches or the same amount of food. There is drinking water on site, so bring a refillable bottle. A small folding umbrella is allowed but cannot be opened on the grandstands. Strollers, flags on plastic poles and cameras for personal use are fine.
  • Not allowed: parasols, cooler bags, any kind of chair or seat, glass, drones, bikes and scooters, pyrotechnics and backpacks over 20 liters.
  • Paying: food and drink stalls take bank cards or the Festipay prepaid card only, no cash. Merchandise shops take cash and cards, in euros and forints.

For the heat, the circuit’s FAQ points to the right answer: a hat and a rain jacket rather than an umbrella. Add sunscreen, light clothes and shoes for walking on grass and gravel. Our Budapest heat wave guide covers the rest, and Budapest in July shows what else is on that week.

Groups of 15 or more arrange a date by email at visit@hungaroring.hu; ask there about an English-speaking guide too.
  • Hungaroring walk: the next date is listed as coming soon. Tickets are sold only in advance, never at the gate, and strollers are not allowed on this one.

Where to stay for the Grand Prix

The Grand Prix weekend is one of the busiest of the Budapest summer, so book the room when you book the ticket. Two things make the daily trip easier:

  • Stay near metro M2. It ends at Örs vezér tere, where the H8 HÉV starts, so anywhere along the line (Deák Ferenc tér, Astoria, Blaha Lujza tér, Keleti) puts you one change from the circuit.
  • Stay near Keleti if you plan to use the Gödöllő return route, since the trains from Gödöllő end there.

Our Budapest neighborhood guide compares the districts. Gödöllő itself is the quieter alternative: it sits at the far end of the H8 and is where the evening fan buses went in 2026.

The circuit has no luggage storage, so on arrival or checkout day leave your bags in town first.

Make a day of it: Gödöllő and the Hungaroring

Off-season, the Hungaroring pairs well with the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, the Baroque palace linked with Empress Elisabeth (Sisi), on the same H8 line. Do the 14:00 track visit after a morning at the palace, or the other way round. Our Gödöllő Royal Palace guide has the tickets and opening hours.

Good to know

When is the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2027?

Friday 30 July to Sunday 1 August 2027, with the race on Sunday 1 August. It is round 13 of the 2027 Formula 1 calendar, and the Hungaroring announced it as the 42nd Hungarian Grand Prix. Session times are published closer to the event.

How do you get to the Hungaroring from Budapest?

On race weekend, take the H8 HÉV suburban train from Örs vezér tere (the end of metro M2). In 2026 the fan buses ran free from Kerepes station to Gate 3 for race ticket holders, and back from Gate 3 to Gödöllő station, where trains run to Keleti. Outside race weekend, the H8 HÉV and the 321 express bus serve Mogyoród, and drivers leave the M3 at exit 20.

How much are Hungarian Grand Prix tickets?

On the official ticket shop on 7 November 2026, a three-day General Admission (standing) ticket cost €170 and a Sunday one €155. The grandstands still on sale were Chicane 3 at €310, Apex 2 at €340 and the main Hungaroring grandstand at €650 for the weekend. Junior tickets for children aged 0 to 13 cost €30 to €60 and must be bought with an adult ticket.

Can you visit the Hungaroring when there is no race?

Yes. The circuit runs a guided track visit with the paddock, race control and the podium for 6,700 HUF per person, with dates on 10 and 18 November 2026, plus a guided walk on the track itself for 9,900 HUF. There are also car open days on the track, driving experiences and a kart track on the site.

Is there luggage storage at the Hungaroring?

No. The circuit's FAQ says there is no luggage storage on site, and backpacks over 20 liters are not allowed in. If you come straight from the airport or from a hotel checkout, leave your bags in Budapest first.
