Is Annagora Worth The Trip?

Take the early train and buy the wrong ticket and you will feel it. Annagora is a genuinely good summer waterpark, 11 pools and a slide tower on the north shore of Lake Balaton, but it is open for barely ten weeks a year, it costs 10,800 HUF (~$34) for an adult on the full ticket, and it is two hours each way from Budapest. Get those three facts straight and the day works. Miss any one of them and it does not.

The word for the day is csúszda (slide, roughly “choos-da”), and it is the word that decides which ticket you buy. Everything at Annagora splits into slide people and water people, and the price gap between them is enormous.

Ten Weeks A Year, And That Is The Whole Story

The 2026 season is 20 June to 30 August. Daily, 10:00 to 19:00, with the slides running 10:15 to 18:30 so the towers can be cleared before closing.

That is it. No shoulder season, no winter section, no heated indoor half that keeps going in October. Balatonfüred has a real off-season and Annagora spends it drained. If you are planning a trip in May or September and a listing site tells you the park is “open”, it is telling you about a season, not about your dates.

Which also means: if you are reading this in late August, you have days rather than weeks.

The Ticket Decision Nobody Explains

Annagora sells two products under one roof and the difference is nearly double the money.

All-in buys the slides and everything else:

• Adult: 10,800 HUF (~$34)
• Pensioner, or ages 10 to 17.99: 8,800 HUF (~$28)
• Child 3 to 9.99: 6,800 HUF (~$21)
• Family, 2 adults and 2 children: 34,000 HUF (~$106)

Beach pass buys the pools and leaves the giant slides out:

• Adult: 6,100 HUF (~$19)
• Pensioner, or ages 10 to 17.99: 5,000 HUF (~$16)
• Child 3 to 9.99: 4,000 HUF (~$13)
• Family, 2 adults and 2 children: 18,000 HUF (~$56)
• Under 3: free

There is also an afternoon ticket from 16:00 (8,100 HUF over 18, 6,600 for 10-17.99, 5,100 for children) and a 7,500 HUF night ticket on the evenings the park runs late.

Here is the rule that saves families the most money: children under 130 cm can only use the giant slides with a parent riding as well. So if your group is two small children and two adults who would rather be in the wave pool than climbing a tower thirty times, you are paying 34,000 HUF for slides that will get used four times between you. The 18,000 HUF beach pass covers the wave pool, the children’s wave pool, the slow river, the hydromassage pools, the pirate-ship pool and the splash area. That is a full day for a small child, at half the price.

Buy all-in when there is a teenager in the party. Buy the beach pass when there is not. This is the entire pricing strategy and it takes one glance at everyone’s height to decide.

What Is Actually In There

About 2,400 m² of water across 11 pools, indoor and outdoor, heated. The named slides include Whirlwind, Crazy River, Racing Slide and Turbo, which tells you the shape of the tower: one racer, one raft ride, one that spins you.

The pools that carry the day for younger families are the wave pool, a separate smaller wave pool for children, the slow river you drift around, hydromassage pools, and a pirate-ship pool with a splash area attached. There is a baby-and-parent care room in the main building, which sounds like a small detail until you have needed one.

What there is not: thermal water. Annagora is a waterpark. Nobody here is going to talk to you about mineral content or a gyógyvíz (medicinal water) certificate, because there is not one, and any page that files this place under thermal spas has filed it wrong. If soaking is what you came to Hungary for, spend the money in Budapest’s baths or work through the thermal bath cluster instead, and keep Annagora for the day the kids stage a revolt.

Getting There Without A Car

Straightforward, and better than most Balaton destinations.

Direct trains run from Budapest-Déli to Balatonfüred, roughly hourly, with a typical journey of about two hours and the quickest services closer to one hour forty-five. In high summer the Balaton line is busy, so a reserved seat on a fast train is worth the small extra rather than standing in a vestibule with a cool bag.

From Balatonfüred station the walk is about 1.3 kilometres: turn right onto Horváth Mihály utca, follow it to the end, turn left onto Fürdő utca, and Annagora is on your right. Fifteen to twenty minutes with children and inflatables, and it is flat.

The timing maths is the part to be blunt about. Two hours out, twenty minutes walking, a park that stops slide operations at 18:30, twenty minutes back to the station and two hours home. On an 08:00 train you get a full day. On an 11:00 train you have paid 10,800 HUF for five hours, and the afternoon ticket at 8,100 HUF from 16:00 will look retrospectively clever. If you want this to be relaxed rather than efficient, stay the night in Balatonfüred and treat it as half of a two-day Balaton trip. The Thing About Being 500 Metres From A Free Lake

Annagora sits about half a kilometre from the shore of Balaton, and Balaton costs nothing to swim in. That is not an argument against the park, but it is the question the park has to answer, and it deserves a straight answer.

Pay for Annagora when you want slides, a wave pool and somewhere the children cannot wander out of. Do not pay for Annagora because it is near water. Balatonfüred’s own lakeside is pleasant, the Tagore promenade is one of the better strolls on the north shore, and on a hot August afternoon a lot of the appeal of a waterpark is simply that it has queues for the interesting bits and the lake does not.

The version of this day that works best: park in the morning while everyone has energy, lake and promenade in the late afternoon when the ticket has stopped earning its keep, train home.

Who Should Skip It

Anyone looking for a thermal spa. Said twice on purpose, because the directory sites file Annagora next to genuine medicinal baths and the two experiences have nothing to do with each other.

Anyone travelling outside 20 June to 30 August. There is no partial season to catch.

Anyone who cannot get an early train. Four hours of rail for five hours of park is a bad ratio, and paying full price to arrive at midday is how a good day becomes an expensive one.

Groups of adults. This is a family park and makes no secret of it. Two adults without children will have a fine time and will also wonder, at about 15:00, why they did not go to Hévíz instead.

For everyone else, and particularly for anyone travelling with a six-year-old in the last week of a Budapest trip, it is one of the few days out where the children get the vote and the adults still get a lake.
