Budapest Rooftop Bars: 11 Terraces, Their Views and How to Book Them (2026)

Budapest has more good rooftops than one trip can hold, and each one frames a different part of the city. White Raven Skybar & Lounge

What is it? A seasonal terrace on top of the Hilton Budapest in the Castle District, a short walk from Fisherman’s Bastion. It opened in the summer of 2022 and runs as its own brand, open to everyone, not only hotel guests.

Why it’s worth it: it is the rooftop for the river view from the Buda side, with the Danube below and Parliament across the water. The trade-off is the season: it opens from late spring to early autumn, and the autumn hours are short.

Insider tip: the way up is part of the visit. Take the lift in the Hilton lobby to the 6th floor, turn right, walk to the end of the corridor and take the second lift to the terrace. The bar is partly covered, so a rainy evening can still work, though the weather can affect a booking.

ISSEI Skybar & Restaurant

What is it? A rooftop restaurant and bar on the Radisson Collection Hotel on Szent István tér, cooking Nikkei food, the Japanese-Peruvian kitchen that grew out of Japanese immigration to Peru.

Why it’s worth it: the Basilica is right in front of you, close enough to read the stonework, and the kitchen is a full dinner rather than bar snacks. It suits a celebration more than a quick drink, and the price level reflects that.

Insider tip: on Saturday and Sunday it opens at 14:00, three hours earlier than on weekdays, which makes a weekend afternoon the easiest way to get a terrace table in daylight.

Leo Rooftop

What is it? A garden-style cocktail bar on the 8th floor of Hotel Clark, at the Buda end of the Chain Bridge.

Why it’s worth it: it gives you one landmark composition rather than a wide panorama, the Chain Bridge head-on with Gresham Palace across the river and Buda Castle on the right. It is the most expensive cocktail list in this guide, and every table is held for two hours, so the hour you book matters.

Insider tip: when you book, say whether you want the covered indoor section or the open terrace, which is also the smoking area. Dogs are welcome. For the sunset and the lit bridge in one sitting, start about an hour before sunset.

360 Bar

What is it? A rooftop on top of the Párisi department store building on Andrássy út, with a Mediterranean food menu in summer and heated igloo domes in winter.

Why it’s worth it: it is the full-circle view over the Pest rooftops and the easiest price point in this guide, with every signature cocktail at 4,900 HUF. Evenings run late at the end of the week, with DJ nights and live music, so it suits a long night out more than a quiet one.

Insider tip: for a group, the cocktail tree serves twelve cocktails at once for 52,500 HUF. The phone line is answered between 13:00 and 18:00, so call in the afternoon if you want to talk to someone about a booking.

High Note SkyBar

What is it? The landscaped rooftop of the Aria Hotel, right next to St. Stephen’s Basilica, on two levels.

Why it’s worth it: the Basilica dome is close enough to show architectural detail, and the terraces give a wide view over the city.

Insider tip: book ahead for sunset and ask for an outside table; blankets come out as soon as the evening cools.

Cortile Sky Bar & Pool

What is it? The rooftop of the Cortile Budapest Hotel in District VI, with an infinity pool next to the bar.

Why it’s worth it: it is the one rooftop here where you can swim. The pool is 140 cm deep, with floating cushions for anyone who would rather lie on the water, and drinks are served on the terrace or by the pool. Children under 14 are not admitted.

Insider tip: come at 16:00, when it opens, to spend the late afternoon in the sun and the water, then stay on as the city lights come up.

The Sky Garden Rooftop Terrace

What is it? A garden terrace with Doric columns on top of the Mystery Hotel, a block from Nyugati station, with cocktails and bar food for about 50 guests.

Why it’s worth it: it is a green, sheltered terrace rather than a high one. The nearest landmark is Nyugati station’s iron hall, and Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion and Gellért Hill sit farther off on the skyline, so come for the garden and the drinks and enjoy the view as part of the setting.

Insider tip: the terrace is closed for the season now and expects to reopen from late April 2027 until the end of September, so this one is for a spring or summer trip.

St. Andrea Wine & Skybar

What is it? The wine-led rooftop of the St. Andrea winery from Egerszalók, on the top floor of the Váci1 building on Vörösmarty tér, open since 2017.

Why it’s worth it: it is a wine bar with a view more than a party roof, with the winery’s own list, a sommelier on the team, light bar food, and live music or a vinyl DJ. The terraces look over the inner city toward Gellért Hill, the Buda side and the Ferris wheel.

Insider tip: last entry is 23:00, and groups of eight or more pay a 15,000 HUF per person minimum spend plus service, so a big group should plan the budget before booking.

MemoRise Skybar

What is it? A small terrace on the Hotel Memories building in the inner city, a short walk from Váci utca, with swings among the seats.

Why it’s worth it: it is a cosy, low-key rooftop for a relaxed evening. The terrace looks toward the Citadella and the surrounding rooftops rather than the river, and the kitchen is a real part of the visit.

Liz & Chain Rooftop Bar

What is it? The 9th-floor rooftop of the Budapest Marriott on the Pest embankment, with a 270-degree view and a kitchen built around a zero-waste approach.

Why it’s worth it: from the 9th floor the terrace takes in a 270-degree view of the city’s skyline, and it opens at noon at weekends, which makes it one of the few rooftops here for a daytime drink with a view.

SOLID

What is it? A rooftop brunch restaurant on the 7th floor of Hotel Rum, the sister of SALT, the Michelin-starred restaurant downstairs. SOLID itself has been listed in the Michelin Guide since 2023.

Why it’s worth it: it is the rooftop for the morning. Breakfast and brunch run under a roof that opens on warm days and closes in cold weather, with a fireplace and the skyline behind the glass.

Insider tip: it closes at noon on Monday to Wednesday and at 14:00 later in the week, so this is a breakfast plan, not an evening one.

Do I need a reservation?

For most of these terraces, yes, and at some it is the house rule. Cortile takes guests only with a booking, Leo holds every table for two hours, and Liz & Chain and White Raven both recommend booking even though they seat walk-ins when there is room. On a clear summer weekend, a booking is what turns a nice idea into a table at the rail.

What does a drink cost on a Budapest rooftop?

On the current menus, signature cocktails mostly run from 4,900 HUF at 360 Bar to 7,550 HUF at Leo, with limited editions above that, and zero-alcohol cocktails start at 3,900 HUF at Liz & Chain and 4,200 HUF at ISSEI. That is roughly $15 to $24 for a signature drink. You are paying for the terrace as well as the glass, so pick the view you want most.

Is there a dress code?

Smart casual covers every terrace here. White Raven spells it out: no sportswear, beachwear, flip-flops or classic trainers. St. Andrea asks for casual and neat. A clean pair of trainers and a shirt or a nice top work almost everywhere.
