Dagály Bath Budapest: Prices, Hours and Tips for the Locals' Thermal Bath (2026)

Dagály is where Budapest goes to swim and soak without the crowds of the postcard baths: a big, bright complex on the Danube with outdoor thermal pools that stay open all year and an adult ticket of 4,500 HUF on weekdays. It does not sell you a palace. It sells you space, warm water and a very good-value sauna hour.
The bath sits at 1138 Budapest, Népfürdő utca 28-30, in District XIII at the Pest end of Árpád Bridge. It opened in 1948, and its water comes from the Béke well, drilled in 1944. The complex was rebuilt in 2017-2018 and today belongs to the national swimming and water polo center run by the state sports agency NSÜ.

The pools
All year: thermal soaking and lap swimming
- Outdoor thermal pool, 36C. The warm heart of the bath, 523 square meters of water.
- Outdoor medicinal pool, 34C. For a long, gentle soak.
- Outdoor 50 m lap pool, 27C. Built for competition, 220 cm deep.
- Outdoor 25 m lap pool, 27C.
Both thermal pools can be reached from the main building or from outside. Swim caps are compulsory in the two lap pools, and under-14s may use the thermal and medicinal pools only with a doctor’s prescription.
Insider tip for swimmers: NSÜ publishes a weekly lane plan for the 50 m pool. For the week of 5 to 11 October 2026 it shows lanes open to the public all day, with a few lanes reserved on some early mornings. Check the current plan on the facility page before an early swim.
The thermal side runs outdoors through the winter, and the cold months are a lovely time to come: steam over 36C water under bare trees. Here is the same glass canopy in two seasons.
Summer season: the lido
In summer four more pools open, laid out in the shape of a butterfly and kept at 30-34C: an adventure pool, a beach pool, a teaching pool and a children’s pool. Around them are lawns, a spray park, a playground, streetball, beach football and beach volleyball courts, a teqball table and outdoor fitness machines.

The wellness add-on
For 1,250 HUF (about $4) on top of your ticket, the wellness area on the ground floor of building B is yours: a Finnish sauna, an infrared sauna, a steam room, a salt room, a tepidarium, a 36C jacuzzi, a cold plunge pool at 14-18C, an ice machine, and a Kneipp walk with a cold (14-16C) and a warm (40C) trough. It is open to guests aged 14 and up. A sauna infusion session costs 700 HUF.
Why it’s worth it: for 1,250 HUF (about $4) on top of your ticket you get a full sauna circuit, which makes Dagály one of the best-value spa afternoons in the city. The one limit is age: families with younger children will spend that hour in the pools instead.
Massages are booked at the bath and run from 4,800 HUF for a 20-minute aroma or refreshing massage to 11,900 HUF for a 60-minute hot stone massage; a 45-minute couple’s massage is 17,950 HUF. Massages are for ages 14 and up.

The water and the Béke well
The Béke well (B-14) is 125.9 m deep and gives a hard, fluoride-bearing calcium-magnesium-hydrogen-carbonate thermal water with notable sulphide and metasilicic acid content. NSÜ describes the warm medicinal water as relaxing for muscles and connective tissue and as pain-relieving, and offers it as a drinking cure for certain stomach and bowel complaints. Medical treatments covered by the Hungarian health fund (NEAK) are available Monday to Friday, 7:00 to 16:30; the underwater jet massage is currently not in operation.
The Béke well can be used only during the bath’s opening hours, 6:00 to 20:00, and holiday hours apply to it too.

Children under 3 enter free. The swim ticket carries a 2,000 HUF cash deposit, refunded if you leave within two hours. A locker for valuables costs 1,200 HUF plus a 500 HUF deposit, a swim cap 2,600 HUF, and a sunbed 1,550 HUF a day.
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday 6:00 to 20:00; please leave the pools by 19:30.

Tips for a good day
- What to bring: swimsuit, flip-flops, a towel (towels are sold here, not rented) and a swim cap if you plan to do lengths.
- Families: buy a family ticket rather than single tickets. In summer the lido pools are the children’s playground; the rest of the year, remember that under-14s need a prescription for the thermal pools.
- Cash for deposits: keep a little cash for the swim ticket or pass deposits, which are cash only.
- Make it a half day: with the wellness add-on, plan three hours or more.
After the bath: Margaret Island

How much is a ticket at Dagály?
On the price list valid from 16 September 2026, adults pay 4,500 HUF on weekdays and 4,900 HUF at weekends. Children aged 3 to 14, students, seniors and visitors with a disability pay 2,950 and 3,800 HUF, under-3s go free, and the wellness add-on is 1,250 HUF.
What are the opening hours?
Every day from 6:00 to 20:00. Guests are asked to leave the pools by 19:30.
Can children use the thermal pools?
Children are welcome at the bath and there are child and family tickets, but under-14s may use the thermal and medicinal pools only with a doctor's prescription, and the wellness area is for ages 14 and up. Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
Do I need a swimming cap?
Yes, in the 50 m and 25 m lap pools. If you forget yours, caps are sold at the bath for 2,600 HUF.
Are the outdoor pools open in winter?
The 50 m and 25 m lap pools, the 36C thermal pool and the 34C medicinal pool are outdoors and run all year. The adventure, beach, teaching and children's pools open only in the summer season.
Can I buy a towel there?
Towels are sold rather than rented: a hand towel is 4,650 HUF and a bath towel 7,850 HUF, so bring your own. Sunbeds can be rented for 1,550 HUF a day.
Which cards are accepted?
The price list names SZÉP cards, AYCM 3XL and MVM among the cards and vouchers accepted. Deposits, for example on the swim ticket, are payable in cash only.
